Easy Storage, Easy Access

Two years ago, right in the middle of the pandemic, I moved from a four bedroom house to a two bedroom apartment. I’d been sewing on and off all my life but the pandemic and various lockdowns were the perfect excuse to pick it up again. And where sewing is a hobby, so is buying fabric. And boy, am I good at that! Trouble is, where do I store it?

Before Stash Hub, I would buy fabric and then put it away somewhere and later never find it again. I have Multiple Sclerosis and climbing on kitchen ladders is something I’d rather not do in vain. The same goes for crawling under my bed. Getting back up is quite the challenge. I have fabric stashed in clear boxes under my bed, on top of wardrobes, in closets etc… Not knowing where to look and having to look everywhere is rather hard on my body.

Obviously it’s high time I sewed more to use up my stash but time seems to slip away so easily. But then there was Stash Hub! Imagine bright yellow lights, and the song of angels. The answer to all my problems!

Not only do I have an overview of my complete stash, I can log where I bought it and where I store it. Is it on the shelf in my closet or in one of the boxes under my bed? Now I know. No need to look everywhere in vain. The location is logged with the fabric. Perfect!

I can create a project immediately so that I remember the vision I had when I bought the fabric. Does that happen to you: you see a gorgeous fabric, in your mind’s eye you have a clear vision of what you are going to make with it but by the time you receive said gorgeous fabric, you have no clue what you bought it for? Well worry no more. The moment your vision hits you, you can start a project logging the pattern and fabric with links to the webstores. You can even link to an inspiration on Pinterest.

It will take me a while to log my entire stash: take a picture, measure it and why not wash it right away. Although, the app lets us log whether a fabric is washed or not, so really…
When I am done logging my real people fabrics, I will start logging my dollhouse people fabric. As if one hobby wasn’t enough, I have truckloads of fabric for my dolls too…
