Joining in with sewing challenges can be a really great way to connect with the sewing community on Instagram and get inspired to sew. Tap Menu and select Challenges. You can switch between the ‘Saved’ and ‘Discover’ tab at the top of the Challenges section. Head to the Discover tab to browse community challenges and save them to your collection. I share a monthly roundup of sewing challenges on the Stash Hub blog and on our Instagram. Challenges will disappear from the Discover tab once the deadline has passed, so there will always be fresh challenges to join in with. If you find a challenge you are interested in, open the challenge and tap the plus icon at the top right to save it.
The Saved tab shows the community challenges you’ve added. You are able to edit them here so feel free to add your own notes. You can also add personal challenges that are only visible to you using the plus button at the bottom right. The tick (check) mark at the top right of the Saved tab shows the challenges you have marked as completed. To mark a challenge as complete open the challenge and select the “Completed” checkbox (underneath Closing Date).
Saved challenges can be connected to projects so you don’t forget to join in and can easily check the hashtag, hosts and closing date. Tap ‘Add Challenge’ when creating a Project to view a list of your saved challenges. Use the expand icon in the top left of each challenge to view more details and tap the challenge thumnail to add it to your project. Adding a challenge to the project will populate the deadline field with the closing date of the challenge and enter the challenge host(s) and hashtag into the project caption.
In the video tutorial, I add my Make Nine, which is a challenge where you choose nine projects to make throughout the year.
If you spot any community challenges that aren’t listed in the Discover tab (or you’re hosting your own challenge) please send me the details on Instagram @stash_hub or email me yvette@stashhubapp.com and I’ll get them added. We also love supporting creativity in the community by sponsoring challenges, so do drop us a message if you’re a challenge host looking for prizes.
