Stash Hub Update – Inspiration

Do you ever see something that immediately sparks an idea for a sewing project? You can now record your inspiration in the Stash Hub App. The ability to store your sewing Inspiration inside Stash Hub has been one of the most requested features over the last year, with at least 20 separate posts in our Stash Hub Club Facebook group. We heard your requests and spent a while thinking about the best way to implement Inspiration. We’re excited to announce that this feature is now available!

Adding sewing inspiration

Inspiration is similar to other record types like Fabrics and Patterns. Find the Inspiration section in the Stash Hub main menu. You can create, edit and delete inspiration records. To add a new Inspiration record, tap on the plus button in the bottom right and select ‘Add New’. If you don’t have any pictures, but want to record an idea, you can enter the name and notes and the text will be displayed on the inspiration card. You can add photos from your camera, gallery or an image URL. One of the special features of Inspiration is that if you put in a valid weblink it will display a preview of that link, including an image, title and a preview of the information. This is ideal if you’re inspired by clothes from ready-to-wear websites.

Inspiration can be added to Projects in much the same way as other records. If the Project status is “Just an Idea”, an image of the inspiration will be displayed on the overview card for that project. Perfect for when you’ve been inspired to recreate something but you’re still on the hunt for a pattern.

Organising Inspiration

The primary method for managing and organising your inspiration is with Tags. For example, you could create a tag for each season, the person you’d sew that project for, or create your own themed collections (e.g. Christmas). You can add multiple Tags to a record and apply Filters to narrow down your collection of sewing inspiration, in the same way that you can use Tags in the rest of the app.

Once you’ve completed your project using the inspiration or it isn’t relevant anymore, you can mark it as Archived. Archived inspiration records won’t appear on your main Inspiration list, but you can still view them by switching the quick filter from ‘Saved’ to ‘Archived’. Archived Inspiration records will still be linked to your projects, so it’s a much better option than deleting them.
