Pattern Hackathon 2025

This July, the #PatternHackathon2025 is back — and this year’s theme is INCLUSIVITY! Running from July 1st to 31st, this creative sewing challenge invites you to put your own spin on a base pattern and share your hacked design with the world. Each week features a different focus, from size-inclusive patterns to knits, menswear, and more.

To join in, simply choose a base pattern and sew your hack during the month of July — previous makes won’t count! Post a photo of your finished garment on Instagram by 11:59pm (your local time) on July 31st, and be sure to show it on the body. Use the hashtag #PatternHackathon2025, collaborate with @patternhackathon using Instagram’s collaboration feature, and include your entry category, base pattern, and location in the caption.

It’s a celebration of creativity, individuality, and community — everyone is welcome to take part!

Ankara Appreciation Week

Ankara Appreciation Week returns for the 5th and final time from 7th–12th July 2025. Get ready to celebrate the vibrant colour, bold structure, and sheer fabulousness of African wax print fabric! This challenge is all about showcasing your love for Ankara — whether you’re sewing something new or sharing a favourite past make.

To take part, simply post your makes on Instagram using African wax print fabric and follow along with the fun daily themes, from florals and animals to geometric prints, scale, tone, and all-out boldness. Don’t forget to tag the challenge hosts @thatlenaking and @julietuzor_, and use the hashtag #SewAnkaraFabric25 so the community can see your makes.

Throughout the week, hosts Lena and Juliet will be highlighting amazing sewists and sharing plenty of inspiration — including clever scrap-busting ideas! Whether you’re new to Ankara fabric or already a fan, this is the perfect week to join the celebration and show off your style.

Sew Together For Summer: Co-Ords

Sew Together For Summer (ST4S) is back for another year of inspiration and community. The theme for 2025 is co-ords, so whip up a matching set during July.

Whether you use patterned or plain fabric, your top and bottoms should be made using the same fabric. There are so many options here, from blouse and trousers to t-shirt and shorts. Make sure to follow challenge hosts Suzy @sewing_in_spain and Jen @jenleggsews for inspiration throughout the month.

To enter this challenge, make your co-ord and post it to Instagram anytime during July. Add hashtag #ST4S25 and tag and follow @sewing_in_spain and @jenleggsews.
