November 2025 Sewing Challenges

SAGAM: Neoteric November
Learn a new word with this month’s Sew a Garment a Month (SAGAM) theme: Neoteric November.
‘Neoteric’ refers to things that are modern or new, meaning this challenge is the perfect opportunity to experiment with something new to you. You could focus on the current modern fashion trends for your garment project. Alternatively, make something old new again, by using a vintage pattern or upcycling. As always, there are endless way to interpret this theme, so get your creative thinking caps on!
Share your neoteric garments to Instagram anytime during October. Use the hashtags #SagamNeotericNovember and #Sagam and tag challenge hosts @suestoney, @sewing_in_spain and @sewingreloaded.

A Gift to November 25
The festive season is the perfect time for a bit of selfless sewing. Alison @sewlikedotty is hosting A Gift To November 25 to motivate you to sew up your handmade gifts this month – saving you from the dress of sewing last minute throughout December!
You can use any type of sewing (e.g. dressmaking, patchwork, embroidery) to create an item intended to be given as a gift.
You can share your completed gift projects anytime during November, on either Instagram or via email. On Instagram, tag @sewlikedotty in your post and use hashtag #AGTN25. If you can’t post publicly because you want to keep your gifts a surprise, you can send all your makes in one email to agtnsewing@gmail.com. There is a prize draw for this challenge! Include your country of residence in your entry as some prizes are regional.
Search AGTN25 on YouTube (or check the schedule on @sewlikedotty profile) for an inspiring vlog tour packed with gift ideas.

Slow Fashion Challenge
The Slow Fashion Challenge is a great opportunity to share your thoughts about sustainable clothing and learn more from the community as well. Being able to make your own clothes equips you with a lot of the skills required to embrace slow fashion and build a more sustainable wardrobe.
@slowfashionchallenge has created daily prompts to help guide your fashion exploration and posts. Share your thoughts, ideas and outfits to Instagram, tagging @slowfashionchallenge and using #SlowFashionChallenge.
This is a great community building challenge, so make sure to check out other people’s posts and see what you can learn from their perspectives on slow fashion.

#MyMakesNov25
Whatever you’re sewing throughout November, make sure to share a round-up for #MyMakesForTheMonth to be in with another chance of winning great prizes. This challenge is hosted by @sewmuchtodesign every month, so it’s also a great way to keep a record of everything you’ve made throughout the year.
To join in, simply share your sewing projects to Instagram with the June hashtag #MyMakesNov25, plus the challenge hashtag #MyMakesForTheMonth. Also tag @sewmuchtodesign and follow this month’s sponsors to support small businesses in the sewing community.
