Sewing Challenges – April 2025

Inspiring sewing challenges are hosted by creators in the Instagram sewing community each month. These sewing challenges are a great way to get motivated and boost your sewing skills. April sewing challenges are no exception, with challenges encouraging you to sew up blouses, learn new bag making skills, have a go at upcycling and pay homage to something you admire. Check out the challenges section in Stash Hub for the full details of each challenge. You can save the sewing challenges you’re interested in and link them to your sewing project plans.

April 2025 Sewing Challenges

Sew April Blouse 25

The Sew April Blouse challenge is back for its fifth year! Gabrielle (@cloth_edit) and Tamlyn (@sewn_on_the_tyne) are inviting sewists of all levels to create a beautiful blouse during April.

To join in, create a blouse using woven fabric and share a photo on Instagram anytime between April 1st and April 30th, 2025. Be sure to tag @cloth_edit and @sewn_on_the_tyne and use the hashtag #SewAprilBlouse25 so your entry is counted. Only new makes are allowed, so no tagging older posts, and feel free to enter as many times as you’d like if you make more than one blouse!

Winners will be selected by Gabrielle and Tamlyn based on creativity and style (not by random draw), and there will be some amazing prizes up for grabs!

Don’t miss out on this fun and creative challenge. We can’t wait to see all the beautiful blouses you make!

The Spring Bag Making Challenge

Ready for a fun, creative week of bag making? Studio7t7 is hosting a FREE virtual event, and you’re invited! Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced bag maker, this event will help you get started or refine your skills.

Throughout the week, you’ll follow along with live tutorials to learn how to make a beautiful, practical zipper pouch—perfect for beginners but still packed with tips for advanced makers. Don’t worry about fancy supplies—everything you need is simple, and you’ll get a list of supplies sent directly to your email inbox.

Sign up here to join the Spring Bag Making Challenge from Studio7t7 from 21st to 25th April 2024.

#Retodivertido2

Have fun giving a forgotten garment a second chance with the #retodivertido2 upcycling challenge! #retodivertido2 is a real test of your creativity, as you have to reimagine a top garment (jacket, sweatshirt, top, blouse, etc) into a lower garment (skirts, pants, leggings, tights, etc). Share your transformation to Instagram between 27th March and 27th April 2025 and tag @tallerlili_espaciocreativo, @creaty_mer and #retodivertido2 in your post.

Unleash your creativity! You do not need to be able to sew to a high level to enjoy this challenge. You can make a transformation using hardly any sewing – just use your imagination and creativity.

Follow challenge hosts @tallerlili_espaciocreativo, @creaty_mer for upcycling inspiration!

MAGAM:

Use your sewing skills to create a garment that pays homage to something you admire for #MAGAMAdmireApril this month. Take inspiration from anywhere – from fashion to art or even places.

Make A Garment A Month runs with a different theme each month of the year, so you’ll never be short of sewing inspiration. This challenge is always a fun test for your imagination as the prompts are open to interpretation. You’re welcome to submit multiple entries and combine MAGAM with other April sewing challenges.

To join in with this sewing challenge, share your finished garment to Instagram during April and tag hosts @suestoney @sewing_in_spain and @divinedita and use #MagamAdmireApril #magamsewalong.

#MyMakesApr25

Whatever you’re sewing throughout April, make sure to share a round-up for #MyMakesForTheMonth to be in with another chance of winning great prizes. This challenge is hosted by @sewmuchtodesign every month, so it’s also a great way to keep a record of everything you’ve made throughout the year.

To join in, simply share your sewing projects to Instagram with the April hashtag #MyMakesApr25, plus the challenge hashtag #MyMakesForTheMonth. Also tag @sewmuchtodesign and follow this month’s sponsors to support small businesses in the sewing community.

If you missed my Stash Chats episode of challenge founder Lou @sewmuchtodesign you can watch it here. We chatted about why Lou founded this challenge plus her sewing journey and stash.
