How has your sewing been going so far this year? Did you join in with any of the January sewing challenges? If you’re not sure what to sew next, check out these new sewing challenges for February to give you some inspiration.
February 2024 Sewing Challenges
ReFebulous2024
We’ve all got some garments taking up space in our closet that just don’t work for us. Now is your chance to reimagine them! ReFebulous has a focus on sustainable sewing, so consider how you can make the most of your resources and create something you’ll get lots of wear out of. Share your plans, progress and maybe even a finished project or look. Show us your journey, no perfection needed!
Share at least one grid post or reel during February, tagging host @madebyliesl in caption and using #REFEBULOUS and #REFEBULOUS2024. There will be a raffle at the end of the challenge with lots of great sponsored prizes, including a year’s free subscription to Stash Hub Plus!
Freedom February
A new month means a new theme for the Make A Garment A Month challenge! This month’s theme is Freedom February and is open to interpretation, as always. Sew a garment that shows freedom of style (go for some print clashing, perhaps?) or get creative with some pattern hacking. You can also interpret the theme on a more personal level by creating something that gives you more freedom.
Share your finished garment to Instagram and tag #MagamFreedomFebruary #magamsewalong @suestoney @sewing_in_spain and @blakandblanca
Pogonip Party
Is the recently released Pogonip Pullover from Friday Pattern company on your project list? Join the #PogonipParty for friendly motivation to sew up your Pogonip during February. There will be a vlog tour on Youtube – search ‘Pogonip Party’ to get inspired and see what others are working on. This pattern works great in lots of fabric types!
To join the Pogonip Party, sew a Pogonip Pullover using the pattern from Friday Pattern Company. Share your progress on Instagram using #PogonipPartyWIP. Post your completed Pogonip on Instagram on 29th February using #PogonipParty and tagging host @gemini_stitchers.
Last Sewist Standing
Is your fabric stash overflowing? Are you buying fabric faster than you can sew? Reckon your fabric stash could sustain you for years? Well, then I guess it’s time for the #LastSewistStanding. This is a no buy challenge which runs from 14th February until the end of the year. There are two categories: HEAVYWEIGHT (no fabric or sewing supplies) and LIGHTWEIGHT (only fabric is banned). This year there will be checkpoints so you can celebrate how long you lasted without buying sewing supplies, even if you don’t make it to the end of the challenge.
This challenge is hosted by Lise @miss.taeschli, who I was lucky enough to chat to on a recent episode of Stash Chats. Follow @miss.taeschli on Instagram to register to join in with this year’s Last Sewist Standing challenge.
Self Love Sewing
With Valentine’s Day approaching, it’s time to focus on your love for the most important person in your life – YOU! From now until February 14th, share your #SelfLoveSewing makes. Sew and share something that makes you feel beautiful. You don’t have to create anything sexy (although you can if you like…). Follow the hosts for lingerie inspiration for this challenge.
Share your makes on Instagram and tag hosts @needleandthebelle @sewingmystyle and @bratalklive and use #SelfLoveSewing.
Continuing Sewing Challenges
Make Nine, Winter of Care and Repair and Nancy’s Notions UFO challenge are all longer term challenges that you can join in with at your own pace. Check out the previous challenge roundup for details on how to join in with all of these challenges.
