New sewing challenges are added to Stash Hub each month, where you can save them and link them to your projects.
March 2025 Sewing Challenges
MAGAM: Mellow March
Chill out this month, with Mellow March from Make A Garment A Month. You could sew a mellow yellow garment – perfect for combining this challenge with Sew Yellow For Endo. Think about fabrics that soothe you and techniques you find calming.
Make A Garment A Month runs with a different theme each month of the year, so you’ll never be short of sewing inspiration. This challenge is always a fun test for your imagination as the prompts are open to interpretation. You’re welcome to submit multiple entries and combine MAGAM with other challenges.
To join in with this sewing challenge, share your finished garment to Instagram during March and tag hosts @suestoney @sewing_in_spain and @eversewoften and use #MagamMellowMarch #magamsewalong.
Sew Yellow For Endo 2025
Sew something yellow, raise money for Endometriosis UK and help spread awareness of endometriosis – a condition which affects 1 in 10 women/AFAB in the UK.
Sew Yellow For Endo has been run by endo warrior Jess @sowhatifisew for the past three years and has already raised over £6000 to support those affected by endometriosis. To join in the challenge, sew something yellow (or partially yellow), share to Instagram on Saturday 22nd March with tags @sowhatifisew and #SewYellowForEndo2025 and donate at least £1 to the fundraiser. You could be in with a chance of winning an awesome prize!
Follow @sowhatifisew to tune into Instagram Lives with Endometriosis warriors and experts every Wednesday and attend the SYFE party at Sew Me Sunshine on Saturday 22nd March.
Sew Frugal 25
Sewing can be an expensive hobby – but it doesn’t have to be! #SewFrugal25 is a great chance to discover free sewing patterns and use sewing supplies you already have.
To join in with this sewing challenge, choose a free sewing pattern, fabric from your stash and sew a garment during March. Post your creation on Instagram on 31st March, tagging challenge hosts @frugalisama and @theyorkshiresewgirl and using #SewFrugal25.
Not sure where to find free sewing patterns? There will be lots of inspiration on YouTube as there are two vlogs almost every day throughout March for the Sew Frugal vlog tour. Vlogs will cover all sorts of topics, from creating a holiday capsule, to jersey scrap busting to occasion wear.
You can also check out previous Sew Frugal hashtags on Instagram and YouTube for ideas: #SewFrugal24 #SewFrugal23 #SewFrugal22 and #FrugalFrocks2021
Sew Organic 25
The #SewOrganic25 challenge is focused on creativity, sustainability, and community! The goal? To explore the beauty of sewing with organic fabrics. This is a fun, inspiring way to make something that’s soft on our skin and the planet.
To participate in this sewing challenge, sew something using woven or stretch organic fabric. Share your project on Instagram using #SewOrganic25 anytime during the month of March and tag challenge host @flowingthreads. Use the caption to tell us about your fabric choice – where did you find it? What do you love about it? This is a great opportunity to discover new businesses stocking more sustainable fabric options.
@flowingthreads will be sharing your organic makes to stories throughout the month to spread the inspiration. There are some lovely prizes up for grabs in this challenge, so follow @flowingthreads and the challenge sponsors for a chance to win some wonderful fabric and patterns.
Mend March 2025
The Mend March challenge is back! Tackle your mending pile surrounded by community and with a fun daily prompt to inspire you.
Each day throughout March has a different prompt to get you thinking about your mends. There is a hashtag for each prompt, so follow challenge host @VisibleMend for the details each week. Share your mending with the daily prompt, plus #MendMarch2025, #MendMarch and tag @VisibleMend.
This challenge is a great way to discover new mending techniques and make new friends in the sewing community. It’s time to rethink your mending and make it a fun challenge rather than a necessary chore. Good luck!

#MyMakesMar25
Whatever you’re sewing throughout March, make sure to share a round-up for #MyMakesForTheMonth to be in with another chance of winning great prizes. This challenge is hosted by @sewmuchtodesign every month, so it’s also a great way to keep a record of everything you’ve made throughout the year.
To join in, simply share your sewing projects to Instagram with the March hashtag #MyMakesMar25, plus the challenge hashtag #MyMakesForTheMonth. Also tag @sewmuchtodesign and follow this month’s sponsors to support small businesses in the sewing community.
I had a great conversation with Lou @sewmuchtodesign on Stash Chats this week. Check out the episode here to get to know Lou better and hear more about the challenge.
Continuing Sewing Challenges
I hope you’re still continuing with your yearly challenges and goals you set at the start of 2025! Head to the January 2025 sewing challenge round up for more details about all of these challenges, or check them out in your Stash Hub app.
Last Sewist Standing has officially begun (as of 1st March). Sending strength to all the participants to help them stick to their buy ban until the end of the year. If you missed the start date or fancy making up your own rules, consider joining Last Sewist Standing in the Independent category.

Mending Challenge
The Winter of Care and Repair challenge finishes this month for sewists in the Northern Hemisphere. The good news is that spring is on the way! The bad news is, you only have until 20th March to work through your winter mending goals. Perhaps #MendMarch25 will give you the inspiration you need to power through the last of your mending pile.
