That Shacket Talk

By Alia (@milhouse_sews)

You know when you buy a fabric the SECOND you see it?!  And then it sits in your stash for at least a year because you’re busy with other projects and then forget about it? Yeah, me too.  Thanks to Stash Hub, I rekindled my love affair with all my fabrics and was able to dive into a perfect project for fall: my new Bud Shacket from Seamwork!

I bought 2.5m of this beautiful corduroy from Our Social Fabric back in January 2021.  I knew I wanted a shacket but got busy with being pregnant, having a baby, etc etc!  Then by the time I got back to sewing for myself, this fabric wasn’t on my radar anymore.  I heard about Stash Hub and the excel-nerd in me was so excited to give it a go.  I found it so simple to upload photos of my fabrics, and all the fields for fabric type, date purchased etc. got me really thinking about my purchases, the value of the fabrics I bought, and the diversity (or lack thereof) in my stash.

Bud has some great details, look at this cuff placket!
And a hanging loop on the back.

Fast forward a couple weeks when my friend Alanna was talking that shacket talk, and asked if I’d want to sew the Bud Shacket together. Duh!  It’s been such a fun make, and I loved being able to plan the project with my Stash Hub. I’m looking forward to when the planned ‘Notions’ section is released, then I can be even more organized! For this project I had the interfacing, but after a good rummage, realised I didn’t have the buttons!  Now that my shacket is complete, I can tick it off my projects queue, update the amount of fabric used, and get ready to jump into the next one.  Everything feels more peaceful when it’s organized!

  1. Great blog and very recognizable. I am finding fabric I had totally forgotten about and can now at least plan a project with them.
