Feeling overwhelmed by your sewing stash? Stash Hub is here to help you fall in love with your sewing stash and feel more inspired to sew.
Our mission
You may think that as a sewing organiser app, our goal is to help you get a more organised stash. However, our mission is actually to help you fall in love with your sewing stash. This links back to why we started Stash Hub in the first place. My own growing stash was becoming disorganised and overwhelming, and I struggled to find a solution to help me manage it. My husband Doug is an app developer, so he created Stash Hub to help me. I’m very engaged with the sewing community on Instagram, and I saw so many sewists struggling with the exact same stash problems, so we decided to share our sewing organiser app Stash Hub with the community!
How can Stash Hub help me fall in love with my stash?
1. The Process
The process of uploading your fabric and patterns to Stash Hub is not just a means to an end. Especially if you have a large collection, ‘The Stash’ can become a singular entity that can take on quite a scary looming presence, which is no good for creativity. The process of cataloguing each item onto Stash Hub can help you appreciate individual fabrics, patterns and notions. This will help you remember why you were inspired to buy them in the first place. You might even discover some gems you’d forgotten about!
2. Project Planning
We all love fabric! This most exciting part about any fabric is it’s potential. Planning sewing projects in Stash Hub can really help you focus on the projects you’re inspired to make. Plus having your ideas recorded frees up brain space and encourages you to get sewing. With Projects, you can pair fabric, patterns and notions and it’s soooooo satisfying when you complete a project. If you’re new to Stash Hub, I’d recommend starting by creating a few projects first.
3. Learning about your stash
Visiting the Stats section may seem scary, but it’s such a useful tool for curating your perfect sewing stash. Never compare the size of your stash to anyone else’s. You’re building a stash that works for you, and the number of fabrics that you’ll find inspiring and comfortable is entirely personal. You can use the stats to compare your stash to your completed projects – this helps you see whether you’re buying fabric colours and types that you’ll love sewing.
What are you loving right now?
Tastes can change over time, and this can be part of the reason sewists build up large stashes they’re not inspired to sew with. If your stash feels overwhelming, the best place to start is by appreciating the fabric and patterns you’re loving right now. You can always work on destashing later if you need to. Adding your most recent and favourite sewing supplies to Stash Hub means your digital catalogue will feel current and inspiring. You can use Magic Input to speedily import your recent online purchases directly into Stash Hub, which means your new fabric won’t end up unloved at the back of the stash.
Benefits of loving your stash
1. Improved Mental Health
Your relationship with your sewing stash can have a big impact on your enjoyment of your sewing hobby. Physical items can take up mental energy, especially if you are worried your stash is too big or too disorganised. Curating a stash you love will allow you to let go of the sense of overwhelm and free up headspace for more creativity and sewing fun.
2. Get more sewing done
An inviting stash will help you feel more inspired, so you’ll be more motivated to head over to your machine. Having your stash catalogued and organised means you don’t have to waste time rummaging around trying to find things – time that’s better spent sewing!
3. Save Money!
Stash Hub makes your sewing stash so much more shoppable – you can browse your existing collection of fabric and patterns for ideas instead of shopping online. The best part about shopping your stash? You already paid for it!
