Do you have handmade items languishing unloved in your wardrobe or adjustments pile? The Sewing Bin to Sewing Win challenge is the perfect opprtunity to salvage these sewing fails and rework them into something that will be used and enjoyed.
You can make small changes such as adjusting the length or chop the whole thing up and start again! Post a before and after picture of your reworked item to Instagram with the hashtag #SewingBinToSewingWin and tag hosts @houseofstaves and @made_by_cr. This sewing challenge is open until the end of June 2024.
Around April
There’s a lot of ways you could interpret this month’s Make A Garment A Month theme of ‘around’. Do you have a deadline you have to work around this month or are you messing around with pattern hacking? You could get literal with the theme and incoroporate something round into your design – a circle skirt perhaps? This is the perfect chance to give your creativity free reign!
Share your finished garment to Instagram and tag #MagamAroundApril #magamsewalong @suestoney @sewing_in_spain and @_tallerdelili_
April Trench Time
Do you have a trench coat on your sewing plans list? Join @alexandria_arnold and @emmas_crafternoons for this community sewalong where you can all work on your trench coat projects together.
Each week focuses on a different stage of construction, allowing you to pace yourself and sew a finished trench coat by the end of the month! Choose a trench coat pattern and gather your supplies to join #AprilTrenchTime on Instagram.
Sew April 2024
The #SewApril2024 challenge hosted by @ryliss_sewinganddesignschool has a daily prompt throughout the month of April, so you have plenty of chances to join in, share about your sewing journey and win LOADS of prizes!
To participate, post something relevant to the daily theme, use #SewApril2024 and tag @ryliss_sewinganddesignschool, @fibrestofabric and the daily sponsor.
Continuing Sewing Challenges
Now is the time of year it’s easy to forget about your #MakeNine plans, so be sure to revist your plans and see if you’re still feeling motivated to work on those projects. Are you making good progress sewing through your stash? I hope the Last Sewist Standing challenge is giving you solidarity to refrain from buying new sewing supplies. We’d love to see what you make, so please tag us in your challenge makes @stash_hub on Instagram.
